Nyankorita was born in Japan, and grew up there for the first 12 years. She also lived in the state of Oregon in the United States for 10 years, after which she returned to Japan.

Nyankorita is a textile artist and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fibers at the University of Oregon. She also enjoys ceramics and she created ceramic pieces continuously for three years. She has not practiced it since graduating from university, for a variety reasons, but is currently looking into joining a local ceramic circle. She also enjoys figure drawing, and photography. “I'm a complete amateur in both”, she explained (I disagree…when I visited her gallery, I really liked her drawings and photos J )..


Since Nyankorita is an artistic seamstress, her hands are her first tools; of course, she also relies on a sewing machines, and needles of any sort, including knitting needles. While attending school, she worked for two years at the university theater’s costume shop, and she has also worked in alterations.
